Emotional Roller Coaster

So Sunday I find out I got a spot in the Cherry Blossom 10 miler! YAY! I was super excited.

Monday Matt comes home and informs me that his grandma's 90th birthday party was that weekend in NYC.
He told me to go ahead and run my race. But once again, I felt pretty selfish choosing a race over family. Matt and I have been dating for 4 years 8 months and I love his family like my own. So after I had a good cry about my horrible luck and allowed myself a few mins to wallow in my disappointment, I decided that I would sell my bib and run the back up race the following weekend.

I also put off training for much of the week. I have to get out of this lazy slump!!!

Thursday Matt comes home and asks "did you sign up for that other race yet?"
Thank goodness I hadn't. The party has been moved from that weekend to another one!

YAY!!

Except I am behind on my training schedule! Doh!

Oh well.

SO I think next week I might sign up for the Marine Corp Half marathon in May. Now I have to decide if I want to pay for a cheap hotel in the area or make the hour drive that am.

I also noticed that in Dec there is a new rock and roll half marathon in Miami. Maybe I can talk Matt into a Dec trip to FL :-D That would be fun I think.

So now I am happy I get to run the race I wanted .

Must get my training routine down. Working longer days really makes my motivation hard to find. Must deal with that! I want no more than 10 min miles this race.

  1. Or...you could just stay with me! I live really close to there. The only thing is we are listing our house in March so depending on whether or not it sells quickly (I really doubt it would sell that fast!) we might not be here. But I would say there is a 90% chance we would be and you and your man are invited to stay with us. Convenience+Free. I would maybe even run it too.

  3. Thanks Gillian!

I might take you up on that offer. But I hope your house will be sold for your sake.

Are you moving to the cobblestones of Old Town? :-D

  4. Hey Angela. Been a long time since I've stopped by but am relaxing and enjoying my evening surfing around.
So you are off and running more and more. WOW, you are impressive my dear.
I do have something to share with you, remember 6 month ago you told me I too will learn to jog/run and enjoy it. Well you're right though I'm still learning. I am working on the C25K program and am able to run 3-5 minutes at a time now. I walked/jogged a 5K in 40:28 minutes. Getting there, no where near your accomplishments but maybe one day.
Take care Angela and have a very Merry Christmas. God Bless!!
